The Jes LeRe Hama Corporation (JLRH) is a not-for-profit 501 © (3) public benefit organization founded in 1997 by Marlon C Reid (named in honor of his parents, the late Jesse Lee and Hattie Mae Reid.) to transform distressed and underserved communities.
Born and raised in Marianna, Arkansas, Marlon realized early in life that he lived in a community with unmet needs. He saw those needs and worked tirelessly to find a solution to change the social and economic status of a region.
Phase II:
Mid-South Rural & Inner-City Communities
Revitalization Program
Our goals for the Jes LeRe Hama- Elderly, Disabled-Veterans and the Disadvantaged Home Preservation Project is to make 300 to homes green and energy efficient for those who need it most in Lee, St. Francis, and Phillips Counties. As the program grows, it will expand throughout the Mid-South and around the Globe.
The JLRH Home Preservation Program will serve 300 elderly, disabled veterans and disadvantaged homeowners who are not capable and are struggling to get the needed help in maintaining energy efficiency. One hundred houses will be chosen from each of the following three communities in Marianna, Forrest City and Helena, Arkansas (Lee, St. Francis, and Phillips County) both city and rural areas are our priority. Jes LeRe Hama Corp. wants to continue keeping the community vibrant and livable for the Elderly, Disabled and the Disadvantaged persons who are not able to do so themselves.
JLRH will target and determine what level of preservation assistance is needed in each county by driving through neighborhoods. JLRH will make home project selections by speaking with the city and county mayors, riding through neighborhoods and talking with residents. We will select 100 homes from each county.
JLRH will have restored and updated 300 unsafe homes to more energy efficient homes that will add higher property value and appeal to their neighborhoods. With the help of donors, JLRH will have provided a better living environment for 300 homeowners. As funds for this program increase, JLRH will enter more cities and turn out more energy efficient homes.
Jes LeRe Hama believes that this preservation project will be an attraction, model, and invitation for donor’s in partnering with us to help do the same for other Elderly, Disabled-Veterans, and Disadvantaged homeowners in need of help.
By renovating and going green with these homes, JLRH will have succeeded in making sure that there are no longer leaking roofs during rain storms, replaced non-insulated and unsecure doors with energy-star rated double-bolted lock doors, replaced un-insulated windows, and eliminate outdated Heat /AC units. Above all, the homeowners will enjoy a higher quality of life without the stresses and worries of living in an unsafe home.
As a measure of Jes LeRe Hama’s success with this program, we will send to donors before and After Photos of each project such as the before & after Photos included in this proposal.
